On the 29th of Febuary we were introduced to the fourth unit on the ECU University Preperation Course, UPC0004 (Accessing Knowledge), in this course we are introduced to the concept of blogging and creating our own blog.
Lecture:
In my 8:30am lecture in lecture theatre 102, building 2 of the Joondalup ECU campus. We were given a brief overview of the content of the course and what would be expected of us. The Overview includes:
- How to use university systems such as, the library and the ECU blackboard web site
- Personal computing skills
- Communication (chat rooms, IM, bulletin boards, email etc..)
- Accessing databases
- The World Wide Web
- Security and copyright issues
- How to produce a range of documents of a university standard
- Locate, access and evaluate data
- Minimise risk associated with writing
In my 11:30am tutorial we were exposed to the ECU website itself and learnt how to:
- Navigate the ECU website
- Sing in and use ECU student email
- Using the SIMO website
- Firstly we had to create an account at http://www.blogspot.com/ :

- Next step was creating an account including personal details such as, email, display name and your password:
- Then we had to name our blog by giving it a blob title and a web adress:


- Lastly we chose a background/theme for our blog:


Extra Reading:
In week one there were two extra reading activities we were assigned to complete. These were the PC Lube and Tune website and the "how stuff works" websites. The PC Lube and Tune purpose is to useable introductions, education and tuitorials on technical subjects to a large audience. The how stuff works website is designed to show people how to use and navigate computers.
